Answering Some of Your Frequently Asked Questions

At Diamond’s Boarding Kennels we take time to get to know each and every one you and your pets. To speed up the process, we’ve developed some answers to our commonplace questions about our services. If you want to speak to us directly, feel free to contact us through 03 9764 4552.

What time can I drop off and pick up my pet?

We are open for dropping off 9am to 2pm or picking up your pet from 9am to 4pm. We do recommend however, that you drop off your pet in the first half of the day wherever possible. This enables us to monitor your pet during the settling in period, and allows them more time to familiarize themselves with us and their kennel before being tucked away for the night.

We are open every day of the year except Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 28th Dec - 1st January inclusive, Good Friday and Easter Sunday. There may be some restricted hours on Public Holidays

When is the best time to book for kennelling?

We accept bookings for non-peak periods all year round, and recommend allowing at least one week before you would like to come in. For bookings during peak periods such as Christmas and Easter school holidays, you should allow a minimum 3 months to avoid disappointment and please note that a surcharge may be added. A deposit is required to ensure your pets booking during these times. Deposits are non-refundable/non-transferable if bookings are cancelled.

MAY WE INSPECT YOUR KENNELS?

Yes you certainly can! We are open for inspection by appointment between 11am and 2pm, excluding school holidays, long weekends and public holidays. Please phone us to make an appointment for an inspection time

What vaccinations are required?

All dogs coming into our kennels are vaccinated with a C5 vaccination and no dogs are allowed entry without it. This vaccination covers Canine Cough, which is a highly contagious respiratory infection. Canine Cough can be contracted anywhere that dogs gather-parks, veterinary surgeries and occasionally kennels. The virus can travel through the air for up to 5km, and so it can sometimes be caught even in the backyard. Cats must be vaccinated with a minimum F3 vaccination. Vaccinations must be administered at least 10 days prior to boarding

Will my pet be sad when I say goodbye?

Your pet will be totally amazed at all the activity of Diamond’s, and fascinated by the different sights and smells. Most pets have a great time and are eager to return in the future.

What food do you feed?

Our main meal is provided for dogs at the beginning of the day, and we will give an afternoon meal if required to cater specially for young, old, active or underweight dogs. Cats are generally given dry food in the morning and wet food in the afternoon.

Our selection of food is extensive, and there is generally something here that even the fussiest of eaters will chow down on. For dogs this selection includes but is not limited to: 4Legs fresh pet food, fresh chicken mince with a premium dry kibble and many tinned varieties. Cats are offered a mixture of tinned foods including Whiskas’ brand tuna or salmon along with dry food.

You are welcome to bring your own pets food. Please have it labeled with detailed instructions. Please be aware that food is included in the tariff, and there is no discount for bringing your own food.

Can I bring my pets own bedding?

We recommend that you don’t bring your pets own bedding as it may get lost, soiled or destroyed throughout the stay. If you wish to bring an item to settle your pet in more quickly, you are welcome to do so, but please do not bring anything that is of monetary or sentimental value. This is the same principle with toys. We cannot be responsible for any loss or damage to property while the dog is in our care.

My dog or cat requires medication/tablets to be administered during their stay. Can you do that?

Yes, we are happy to administer any medication to your pet while staying with us. Please make sure it is clearly labeled with detailed instructions of how to administer and understand that there is a surcharge of $1 per dose, per animal, per day for administering tablets/powders. (am/pm meds $2 per day) Please note: We do not accept dogs or cats that require injections.

Do my dogs come out of their kennels for exercise?

Yes, they certainly do! All dogs differ in their exercise requirements depending on age, activity level and breed. Some dogs also prefer certain types of activity to others, therefore develop a program that suits them. This may include throwing a ball, playing tug-of-war, a leisurely stroll around the grounds or time in one of our many exercise yards.

Can my dog find a friend during their stay?

In most cases we are happy to find a friend for your dog to play with whilst staying with us, but the owners of both dogs must first give us permission to do so. This can be done by selecting ‘YES’ on your admission form. We only ever attempt to mix dogs of similar size and temperament, using the best of our knowledge to do so.

Can my dog get a bath on departure?

Absolutely! There is nothing better than getting your pooch back smelling fresh and feeling good. It also allows for some extra one on one time with us. Please let us know when booking your dog in, and circle ‘YES’ on the admission form. The cost is $25- $40 per dog depending on size & coat length.

How and when can I pay?

Payment in full is required at the beginning of your pets stay with us. A non refundable $100 deposit is required to secure a Christmas/Easter Booking. All days reserved during this period are payable even if your pet does not stay for the duration booked. Payment methods accepted are cash, EFTPOS and all major credit cards (except Amex/Diners).

Please note: We advise the no animal will be accepted into the kennel without a current vaccination certificate. Dogs require a minimum C5 vaccination and Cats require a minimum F3 vaccination. All kennelling is done so at the risk of the owner.
